Setting Goals

I'm sure you've heard this before...when setting goals make sure they're S.M.A.R.T. Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Relevant. Time bound. Basically, a goal without a plan is just a dream.

When you've decided on a goal, don't be vague about it. Set yourself up for success and take the bull by the horns as it were. Make a plan with as much detail as possible.

What is your goal? Why do you want this particular goal? How will you measure it or know when you've achieved it? What needs to change for you to reach your goal? How can you make those changes? What support do you have? What obstacles will you encounter? How will you work around those obstacles? How will your life look when you achieve your goal? What are your incentives or rewards when you reach your goal?

I think that fitness resolutions usually get dropped by February because too often we make realistic goals but we forget to factor in flexibility for real, normal life. When you make your plan, plan for the "expected" unexpected. Your kids will get sick and keep you up all night. You'll have to work late sometimes. You'll have a headache and not want to cook dinner. You'll travel. Your gym will shut down or go out of business. You'll get sick yourself. These things DO happen so expect them and be flexible with your plan.

I've included a Goal Setting page below to help you make your plan and I've also included a fun coloring page you can use to keep track of just about any daily goal. Color in each day that you do whatever it is you're tracking!
